Wild Rose

This is one of my favorite telenovelas of all time. It was made in 1987 in Mexico, and stars the beautiful Veronica Castro and the hunky Guillermo Capetillo.

This story is about a poor girl named Rosa, who dresses like a boy, and is always getting into trouble. One day she meets the perfect man: Ricardo. He is rich, handsome, and a gentleman. Immediatley she falls in love with him.

Ricardo, however, is tired of his Sisters always nagging him to settle down and start a family. So he decides to marry the poor, uneducated girl just to get a rise out of his sisters. Poor Rosa thinks he loves her though. She moves into Ricardo's family's mansion, and must suffer the humiliations Ricardo's evil sisters put her through.

In the end, she learns the marriage was a joke, and returns to her old life. Ricardo realizes he truly loves Rosa and does not want to hurt her. Also, Rosa finds her birth mother, Paulette, a rich and lonely woman who was forced to abandon her newborn baby.

This story is the perfect rags to riches story, typical of most telenovelas. And Veronica Castro makes the story even better. It is currently being shown in the US on Telefutura, Monday to Friday at 8 am.
